The Golden Rock is a truly extraordinary natural feature. It is little wonder it is regarded with such sacred awe. According to legend, it is kept in place by a single hair of the Buddha. The views from the Golden Rock are spectacular and many visitors stay to watch the sunset. The attraction of the Kyaikhtiyo is that it offers about 7.5 miles of spirited mountain trekking, cross-crossing forests and bamboo groves with accompanying animals and birds of the forests.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Yangon arrival & sightseeing (by car)

Upon arrival at Yangon Interantional Airport, welcome by Shooting Star Travel’s local guide by holding placard which the name on it. Then transfer to hotel for check in.

After check in, visit Chaukhtatgyi (Reclining Buddha) to see see 70-meters long colossal reclining Buddha, visit Kandawgyi Park, one of central Yangon’s greenest spots. Here you will see the glittering Karaweik barge, a replica of the royal barge and the vast lake with views of Shwedagon in the background. From here, continue to Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar and one of the wonders of the world. It is belived to have been built more than 2500 years ago. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point for sunset. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon – Bago – Kyaikhtiyo (by car)

After breakfast hotel, return to Yangon and on the way visit Bago sightseeing. Firstly, visit the huge four sitting Buddha’s Kyaikpun.(28 meters high huge Buddha Image) and Kyat Khet Wine Monastery, one may observe over 600 student monks having lunch under the way of Buddha’s guidance.

Then continue to Kyaikthiyo, one of Myanmar’s landmark, which is famous for its position and religious importance: Kyaikhtiyo the “Golden Rock “, huge boulder completely covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. To reach the pagoda from Kin Pun a steep 11km road leads to the upper staging point by truck. Take a light trekking on the summit through bamboo forest. Enjoy the sunset beauty on the hill top and overnight at the hotel in Kyaikhtiyo.

Day 3: Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock) – Bago – Yangon (by car)

After breakfast at hotel, take a half hour walk to small cave. Also stop at the roadside shops for rare product of jungle, Midmorning, drive down to the base camp and return to Yangon. On the way visit most important sights of this old capital of the Mon People. Visit in Bago sightseeing: Shwemawdaw Pagoda, Hinthargone Pagoda and Kanbawza Thardi Palace built by King Bayinnaung.

Then visit in and Shwethalyaung Pagoda (the world’s most beautiful reclining Buddha) and Maha Zedi the Mon style. Then visit to Chinese Kwanyin Temple and a walk around the colorful Bago Market. Visit also and the huge 4 sitting Buddha’s “Kyaikpun“(28 meter high huge Buddha Image). After that, drive back to Yangon and on the way visit the Allied War Cemetery near Htaukkyan, the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers. Overnight at hotel in Yangon.

Day 4: Yangon sightseeing & departure (by car)

After breakfast at hotel, depending on your flight time, there is an option to take a ride on Yangon’s Circle Train in the Morning. This morning transfer to Yangon Railways station to take a unique ride on the city’s circular train ride through the outskirts of town (20-30 minutes ride). This slowly traveling train gives you unique opportunity to observe the lively, colorful lifestyle of the local people. Disembark at the Kyi Myin Daing market where you can peruse the various stalls and interact with the friendly vendors before transferring back to Yangon.

Shopping in the Bogyoke Market formerly “Scott Market”, where you can get a wide range of Myanmar handicraft, jewelries, fabrics, lacquer wares and so on (Note : Market is closed on Mondays and Public Holidays).

And then transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure.
